Did You Know Electric Bikes Are Allowed in National Parks?

The National Park Service has reaffirmed a rule allowing e-bikes in national parks, while giving individual park superintendents the authority to decide where they can be used.

"When managed appropriately, the use of e-bikes can enhance fun and healthy recreational opportunities for visitors to national parks and support active transportation options," park service officials said in a statement.

This means that while e-bikes are generally allowed where traditional bikes are permitted, specific regulations may vary by park. For instance, in Utah’s "Mighty 5" parks, e-bikes are allowed on most roads and trails where bikes are permitted, but with some restrictions. Always check specific park regulations before your trip.
